Maine Lobstah

Maine Lobstah was a coastal food painting that leaned into its subject with exactly as much seriousness as a Maine lobster deserves — which is considerable. Painted in Molly Frantzen’s Maine studio, the composition placed a whole lobster front and center, rendered in the vivid orange-red of a just-cooked specimen with a directness and warmth that felt less like a still life and more like a celebration. The title’s deliberate spelling said something about the register: this was Maine done with affection, not tourism.
