Runnin’ Ranunculus is a 12 × 12” original watercolor on premium paper — ranunculus blooms painted with the loose energy the title suggests, petals layering in on themselves in the characteristic dense spiral of the flower, rendered in the transparent, luminous quality that watercolor handles at its very best. Painted in Molly Frantzen’s Maine studio, the composition moves from warm blush at the center to deeper coral and rose toward the outer petals, built up in the patient layers that give watercolor florals their depth.
