A Spring Maine View caught the state at the moment the season turns — that tentative window between mud season and the first real warmth, when the trees are just beginning to remember what green looks like. Painted from observation in Molly Frantzen’s Maine studio, the composition held the specific softness of a spring light that hasn’t quite committed yet: low in the sky, gentle on the landscape, washing everything in the pale warmth of a late April afternoon in the Maine interior. It was a painting about transition as much as place — the same view would look entirely different six weeks later, and the artist caught the version that most people miss.
