Who Goes There was a wildlife painting built around a single owl, caught in the particular stillness of a bird that knows it’s being watched and has decided not to care. Painted in Molly Frantzen’s Maine studio, the composition placed the owl against a dark, layered background — forest shadow in deep ochre and brown — so that the bird’s face and banded feathers held the entire frame without needing anything else. It’s the kind of subject Maine earns: dense, patient wildlife that the landscape keeps producing for anyone willing to slow down and look.
